Nationwide Farmers’ Strike Today - All About Bharat Bandh That You Need To Know!

About two dozen have come on the streets as protests to the passing of two farm bills in the Rajya Sabha. The farmers belonged to the Bhartiya Kisan Union, All India Kisan Mahasangh, and All India Sangharsh Coordination Committee. It has been seen that around 30 farmers belonging from Punjab and Haryana are already protesting the farm bills and they wanted to convey about their misery to the Government through a Bharat Bandh. The farmers have yet received support from 18 political parties.

The railways have been said to be giving the special “Rail Roko” agitation in Punjab saying that the farm bills passing will impact the loading of food grains and essential items. It will also prevent or suspend the moving of special trains. The railway authorities have declared that 14 special trains will be suspended from September 24 to September 26. The agitation is going to affect the loading of food grains and essential items in an adverse way. It is also going to hurt the sentiments of people traveling on special trains as they must cancel their train bookings.

Several farmer's groups have come forward to holding "Chakka Jam" from 10 am to 4 pm on Friday. Many protests have given statements that they will fight on their own and not move to Delhi but still, Delhi Police is on high alert with preparations made for sealing the Haryana border for forestalling any attempt. As per Ratan Singh Mann, many farmers are planning to hold protests in all tehsil, blocks, and village levels in protest of the two bills passed in the Central Government.

On September 20, The Rajya Sabha was said to pass the farmer’s Produce Trade and Commerce Bill and the Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bills stating that these bills will contribute to helping marginal and small farmers by letting them sell outside mandis. The bills have stated that agreements will be signed with Agribusiness firms for holding of stock limits. The farmers are concerned with the exploitation of the Mandi system and not the Agribusinesses is what the Union has said.
