Amazon Banned 3 More Brands Due To Fake Reviews

Three more Chinese consumer brands have been banned from selling on the "Made in China, on Amazon" platform, amid an ongoing crackdown on e-commerce giant Amazon over sellers' efforts to garner positive consumer reviews.

Citing Guangdong SACA Precision Manufacturing, the South China Morning Post SCMP said that Amazon has banned the sale of three brands, RevPower power banks, Tatronics earphones, and VVA cameras, from June 16 under Shenzhen-based electronics company Sunvalley.

The suspension came after merchants were found giving gift cards to customers who wanted to write positive reviews about them. This is a common occurrence in the Chinese e-commerce world, but it is considered an abuse of the review system by Amazon.

"According to our investigation, the reason for the ban may be that certain products offered customers gift cards that allegedly violated Amazon Platform's rules," Saka said in a statement.

The three brands impacted by the latest decision are selling a wide range of consumer products, including baby surveillance cameras and electronics products, which account for about one-third of Dusky's total sales revenue on Amazon since early 2020. Quoting the SCMP statement.

The platform took similar action against other Chinese merchants for violating its rules on fake customer reviews, including an online store owned by a store backed by TikTok owner Bytendance.

Over the past month, product lists from some of the biggest Chinese electronics gadget sellers have been removed from Amazon's online marketplace. SCMP previously reported.

Amazon has a zero-tolerance policy for breaches, including asking a friend to leave a review, and its latest action has garnered widespread attention in China due to sellers' involvement.
