Cricketer KL Rahul Becomes Fastest Indian To Score 2,000 Runs In IPL

Kings XI Punjab's (KXIP) skipper KL Rahul on Thursday became the fastest Indian to complete 2000 runs in IPL. He achieved the feat during the team's clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore on 24t September 2020. Rahul took 60 innings to score 2000 runs and in the process, he broke Sachin Tendulkar's record who took 63 innings to do the same.

Rahul also became the 32nd player to 2000 IPL runs. He is 20th Indian batsman to reach this landmark. Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and opted to field in their Indian Premier League match against Kings XI Punjab in Dubai on Thursday. He finished on a score of 132, which is the highest in the IPL by an Indian and also the highest by a captain in the IPL. Kings XI Punjab who lost the first of the season in a super over against Delhi Captail clicks all boxes on their encounter against RCB. Mayank Agarwal carried on his form and he along with Rahul gave his side a brilliant start.

Kings XI Punjab scored 206 in 20 overs and bowled RCB out on 109 and won the match by a massive margin of 97 runs. They are also the table-toppers now. Their overseas import Maxwell and Pooran didn't fire still they, managed to post a mammoth total courtesy K L Rahul who himself score 132 out of 206 that Kings XI eventually posted on the board. Their next encounter is against Rajasthan Royals on Sunday. Kings XI team will be traveling to Sharjah for their next encounter and the Royals have already made Sharjah their den by knocking off CSK in their previous encounter. Sharjah has smaller boundaries and with the kind of power-hitting that both teams possess, one can expect a run-fest in Sharjah on Sunday.

Captaincy Role

In addition to batting, K L Rahul's captaincy too became the talking point as he used his bowlers quite well. He showed a lot of confidence in 19 years old Ravi Bishnoi who picked 3 crucial wickets. He brought in Jimmy Neesham by dropping Chris Jordan who was expensive in the last match. Jimmy though was not required much and only bowled 2 overs. Let's see how he progresses as the tournament goes on.
