Leaders of the World's 20 Largest Economies to Gather in India for G20 Summit 2023

The 18th G20 summit will be held in India on September 9-10, 2023, in the national capital of New Delhi. This will be the first time that India is hosting the G20 summit, which is an annual meeting of the heads of state and government of the world's 20 largest economies.

The summit will be held at the newly inaugurated Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre located in Pragati Maidan. The venue is a state-of-the-art facility with a capacity to accommodate over 5,000 delegates.

The theme of the 2023 G20 summit is "Building Back Together for a Sustainable and Inclusive Future." The summit is expected to focus on a range of issues, including the global economy, climate change, and sustainable development.

The leaders of the G20 countries are expected to attend the summit, including US President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, French President Emmanuel Macron, Chinese Premier Li Qiang, and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador will not be attending the summit in India, according to NDTV . Brazil's Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Council Charles Michel, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and Indonesia's Joko Widodo are yet to confirm their presence at the summit.

Observers

India extended invitations to an exclusive list of distinguished guests, including ten leaders from countries beyond the G20, such as Bangladesh, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Egypt, Mauritius, Oman, Singapore, Spain, and the United Arab Emirates. The guest list also includes prominent officials from international organizations like the United Nations, the World Bank, the World Trade Organization, the International Monetary Fund, the International Labour Organization, the Financial Stability Board, and the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development. Additionally, India has invited leaders of regional organizations like the African Union, the New Partnership for Africa's Development, and ASEAN to attend the event.
