Ranveer Singh Starrer 83 Likely To Run Into Losses In Crores?
Ranveer Singh's newly released film 83 is not performing as expected at the box office. While fans were eagerly waiting to watch the sports drama, it seems that the polling is not going as expected in the theatres. The film managed to collect Rs 29.59 crore during the Christmas weekend.
The poor box office performance of Kabir Khan-directed 83 has shocked the film industry by none other than the makers of this grand project, which includes Deepika Padukone. The expensive film now stands to lose a huge amount which runs into crores.
A source close to the producers told the writer that the accusation game is about to begin. “The film looks like a documentary about the 1983 FIFA World Cup. Some of the film crew pointed this out during the film. Why film at the expensive Lords Stadium in London when there are so many equally large cricket stadiums right here in India? But the negative ones were stopped by those on the crew who were fully confident that they would attract viewers to the theaters. "
Apparently, a major part of Ranveer's fees is pending. And at least to counter some of the damages he may be forced to write it off.
The failure of 83 for Kabir Khan is a double blow after the poor response to his previous directorial Tubelight. That too was a very expensive film.
83 is currently struggling at the box office with Spider-Man: No Way Home (which has earned Rs 174.92 so far) and Pushpa: The Rise (which has earned Rs 37.20 so far). The competition will intensify in the coming days, with Jersey on December 31 and RRR on January 7. "The thing is, #83TheFilm doesn't have much time to score points!" Taran wrote.
