Suresh Raina Breaks His Silence About The Horrible Incident Of His Family

Raina didn’t disclose the reason for his coming back from UAE, where the IPL will begin from 19th Sept. After a few days of his landing in India, the cricketer said that his aunt’s family in Punjab was attacked in which his uncle and cousin passed away.

As Raina tweeted, “What happened to my family in Punjab was beyond horrible. My uncle was slaughtered to death, my bua & both my cousins had severed (sic) injuries. Unfortunately, my cousin also passed away last night after battling for life for days. My bua (aunt) is still very very critical & is on life support.

Three or four members of the notorious ‘Kale Kachhewala’ gang attacked the family while they were sleeping on the terrace of their house at Pathankot’s Thariyal village in Punjab. Raina’s Uncle Ashok Kumar had suffered serious head injuries and died on the spot. Kushal Kumar, the elder son of Ashok died at a private hospital on Monday night, as the SSP said. He also added, “ The condition of Asha Debi, wife of Ashok Kumar is critical but their second son is out of danger now.” Ashok’s mother Satya Debi has already been discharged from the hospital.

The CM of Punjab, Capt. Amarinder Singh has assured the cricketer the real culprits will be brought to justice.  He said in a tweet, “ Condole the brutal attack on the kin of @ImRaina in Pathankot. Have ordered an SIT probe into the case and have asked @DGPPunjabPolice to identify & arrest the culprits at the earliest. Beta, my DC & SSP have met the family and we will make sure that the guilty are brought to justice,”

Police had lodged an FIR under the sections of 460, 459, and 458 of IPC at Shapur Kandi Police Station.  They have formed various teams to continue the investigation from different sources. Raids have also been carried out in different places like Gurdaspur, Tran Taran, and Amritsar in coordination with local police.  The DGP said that CCTVs of the area have been checked. The investigation has so far suggested that the accused had planned to rob or trespass three other houses in the neighborhood.  He also added that similar cases in Punjab are also being checked whether the criminals are in or out.

The Chennai Super Kings CEO, KS Vishwanathan has stated that Raina returned to the country last week for some personal reasons and h will not be available for the remainder of the IPL season.

"Chennai Super Kings offers complete support to Suresh and his family during this time," the release said.
